The manufacturers always say cold. I use whatever is on at the moment. The
DW drains into the disposal and the caustic soap seems to keep the drain
clear. Most bulk goes into the compost or b ones in the trash so little
has to go down the disposal. When we lived in the city, much went down, now
I get rid of trash a couple of times a week so not a big deal to get rid of
it before it can stink or attract animals.
