On my (particular) cellphone and service - there's an option to turn-off
the GPS feature - whether or not that's true, I have no idea. The only
time GPS kicks in is when 911 is used. At least that's how I understand
this particular 'feature' is used on my rather-old cellphone (3+ years old).
