How to simmer hot dogs, etc.?

Like I said previously, I did see "recipes" for that when I was
looking for the beer bath holding tank idea... but what's the point of
doing it at a bbq if brats are the main event? Seems silly to me. I
was raised in Michigan, but brats were not an integral part of the
cuisine there and they certainly are not here in California so I have
no history of brats & beer in any form.
