There are endless extentions, same with unemployment insurance. There
is no reason to look for a job when the government keeps rewarding
folks who refuse to work. So what if one can't find a job in their
last field, they gotta be be flexible. I happen to know a 45 year old
who worked most of his life for Allstate and was laid off... now he's
in business for himelf, he washes windows and cleans gutters, he more
than doubled his pay and is happier not having a boss. I just
recently paid someone to clean my gutters, cost me $75, took the
fellow no more than 30 minutes. He said he has more work than he can
handle... he makes and installs seamless gutters, cleaning gutters
became more profitable and is much more in demand so became most of
his business. Lots of people don't like to climb anymore, can't, or
never did. I used to clean my gutters but two years ago I no longer
wanted to risk it anymore, legs are getting too old, I never liked
heights anyway... $75 is nothing compared with a fall off a 12'
ladder. "The Tinman" arrives within a week after I phone him... he's
so busy he arrives when he can, no appointments, doesn't matter to him
if people are home or not... he mails a bill rather than taking the
time during the work day to write it up. There's plenty of work out
there, people who claim they can't find a job are simply not willing
to work. And one needs no college degree to clean gutters, wash
windows, paint houses, detail cars, and a hundred other things folks
are very willing to pay to have done.
