Perhaps it is a regional thing. I don't know of a single hospital in
any place that I lived with such a pharmacy.

The hospital my wife uses just hands you the paper prescriptions and
you are on your own. It is not uncommon to discharge patients at 7 or
8 PM too. We do have a couple of 24 hr pharmacies in the area though.
