Default Grilled cheese sandwich

I make too many and buttering them requires too much care with soft
white bread, so:

1. Put olive oil and butter in pan on medium heat, replenishing as
needed:

2. Two slices of white bread, extra sharp cheddar in the middle, plus a
little garlic powder and a little black pepper.

3. Cook on both sides until golden brown or a bit more - cheese will be
melted by then.

Optional: deli ham or tuna salad between the slices along with the
cheese - IMHO, if it's got more than cheese in the middle, it's no
longer a grilled cheese sandwich, it's a grilled <whatever else you've
got in there> and cheese sandwich, e.g., a grilled ham and cheese, or a
grilled egg and cheese.
