My former dentist said they would give Jujubes to patients to chew on
when they wanted to remove a crown. He said it worked every time.
That being said I've never had or even seen them and I always thought
he was saying ju-ju's.

I had them as a child. But worse still was some sugar free candies that my
parents bought. They were not quite a jelly and not quite a hard candy.
You could chew and chew and they would move from tooth to tooth but you
could never bite through them. Jujubes taste good but the texture is bad.
