Sounds like you're saying that you can't get reliable phone service. We
had a tropical storm that knocked out our electricity several years ago.
The cell system worked well, that is, until the batteries on the towers
died out. As I recall, they lasted about 20 hours. The landlines worked
fine throughout. My understanding is that they have their own 67 volt DC
power system.
