I don't have a cite, but the Yankees are certainly the most
controversial team, for or against, in the country. They have plenty
of fans around the country, but I seem just as many strongly disliking
them.

Over the years, they have been the winingest, the highest paid, and
have had the most prime donna players around. Take a poll of people
and ask who owns/owned various teams. Many can tell you about
Steinebrenner, but how many others can they name?
