Not being a Catholic I had to look this up. Sure enough, Shrove Tuesday was
Pancake Day. The day before Ash Wednesday. On Shrove Tuesdays you are
allowed to eat pancakes laden with butter, dairy and other things. Go ahead
and indulge the day before Ash Wednesday. Then you have to give everything
up for Lent.
Religious food rules have always confused me. That's one reason I'm an
agnostic. I'll eat whatever I want to when I want to. Church traditions be
damned.
