BBQ in New Jersey

In Jersey, they come and go pretty quick and I've never come across one
that ever was good enough to make me go back a second time (since most
were well out of my ordinary travels). A few years ago there was a NY
Times article about BBQ in the NYC metro area and they picked a take-out
place in Newark as one of the best. There was a place in downtown
Somerville for awhile, as well as one around Keansburg (which I remember
most for having cotton plants in barrel planters outside on the
sidewalk). There's currently a bar in Cream Ridge (near 195-Great
Adventure) that has BBQ and they seem to be adding a new smoker. They
also have 30+ beers on tap, but, unfortunately, the place doesn't seem
to get much business- the beers are often stale from being tapped too
long and they are often "out" of a lot of menu items (no pulled pork the
last time I went).
If any of these sound interesting, I can do some research and pull up
some names...
Of course there are a lot of places that CLAIM to sell barbecue- the
most annoying is a small chain called "Big Ed's Barbecue"- never saw a
wiff of smoke at any of 'em and they didn't even sell baked beans OR
cole slaw as side dishes, IIRC.
