Try reading " a candle or meths IN A LITTLE HOLDER", above.

A century or few ago, silver warmers (with meth spirit burning IN A
LITTLE HOLDER beneath) for teapots, serving dishes etc were in widespread
use among wealthy people with grand houses, whose dining rooms were a
long way from the kitchen. Burners did not destroy silver; that's why so
many have survived intact.
