Be aware, with either the food processor or by hand, there's a danger of
melting the shortening, which you DON't want. In a food processor, use
short pulses. By hand, use a dough blender,

or two knives. Using your hands can melt the shortening--using your
hands isn't impossible or even terribly difficult, but you have to be
alert for what could happen. It shouldn't be completely mixed; just
enough to form small lumps (pea-sized or a little smaller).
