Well...the links on that website aren't working right now.
I would have loved to see what they picked for a Virginia sandwich.

I can't imagine any single one for the entire state.
As in many states, Virginia has mountain folk (even hillbillies) and beach
bums. City people and farmers.

Oh wait a darn minute. I just googled it and surprisingly they mentioned
the one thing I was going to say as I live near the coast.

Virginia. A GOOD reader picks, "for the Great Commonwealth of Virginia...
the Softshell Crab Sammich! The only state
sandwich with legs! Only available from the first full moon in May until
fall, the Atlantic Blue Crab sheds its shell and becomes a
mouthwatering delectation. Whether deep fired, grilled, broiled or sauteed,
these little suckers are the very best thing you can
put on a bun!"

A restaruant only .3 miles from me sells those. They fry up a softshell
crab and serve it on a bun. The bun has all the legs hanging out....looks
like a giant spider sandwich but if you like crab it's so very good! They
serve it with fries and cole slaw or whatever your choice of side might be.
