But nothing could come close to Transformer. John Kuthe and I saw Lou
in the late '70s. He was having a bad night, and twice kicked a
monitor into the orchestra pit, and waited for the sound folks to put
them back on the stage, bitching about the sound. Still, the show was
great, but it was because Ian Dury and the Blockheads opened. They
were terrific. They were touring the album, New Boots and Panties,
one of the great oldschool punk albums, the one that featured Sex and
Drugs and Rock and Roll and Sweet Gene Vincent
