Default Pumpkin Pie - Using Fresh Pumpkin Vs. Canned?

Squash pie is really good. My one grandma would make them, and I
couldn't tell the difference between it and pumpkin pie, and was
surprised when she told me what it was made out of.

I've had it with vanilla ice cream, but still think I prefer real
whipped cream, although I might change my mind if had homemade ice cream
to go with it! (yum!)
