They say to refrigerate after opening just to cover their butts, but
as far as food safety goes, they don't have to be. The only reason I
would refrigerate ketchup is if I rarely used it. All foods except
for honey eventually go bad if left out but a bottle of ketchup has to
be left out for a very long time before it shows any sign of
deterioration.
