5 years is good (until 4 of them are up and we're getting close
to zero hour). I have thought the same thing many times. I have even
considered that learning that I have cancer - the painless kind that
grows silent and slow with no really bad side-effects until "the very
end" - might be a good thing as long as I have enough money to get me
through without working. Ok, I've got, what did you say Doc, five
years? Ok, great. Now give me that government check and let me relax
free from the stress of the daily grind and I'm in heaven, even if
it's not the eternal kind. The good thing about getting older (I'm 65
and qualify for age-related SSI - $675 a month - and can handle living
on that plus food stamps for whatever time is left - is that the older
you get the more likely it is that anything you buy will last a life
time.
