Favorite Christmas carol
I don't get misty about much, anymore. Been around too long and seen
too much. But, being a hopeless romantic, Christmas gets me all
sappy. I even choke up near the tail end of Alastair Sim's Christmas
Carol. Another holiday delight is old Christmas carols, specially
those sung by the Dirt Nap Boys. You know, Perry, Andy, Dean, etc.
One peculiar tradition around here is by one of our local radio
stations, the one which caters to the youngsters, playing the latest
Gomez and Beiber bubble gum, year round. In a perverse kick the kids
to the curb dirty trick, they totally switch directions and drag out
all these old geezer Christmas standards every Dec 25th. I love it!
Tonight I heard a new one and it blew my socks off. What Child Is
This by Carrie Underwood! Greensleeves has been a fave ever since I
was old enough to realize The Teddy Bears Picnic rocks out, so I was
astonished, having never heard this variation of the traditional Eng
folk classic. Took me a few hits n' misses online to discover the
working title and who sang it, but finally found it on youtube. It's
now my new favoritest Christmas carol of all time.
What's yours?
