Sounds like they are out to scam tourists somehow with prices not
posted. I'm not sure how the scampi became a reason to raise drink
prices but . . .

A dinner with fried 'plus' with prawns in a restaurant-pizzeria in the
central area of ??Santa Maria Formosa in Venice, cost 600 euro to two
Danish tourists who have launched a formal protest. The incident
occurred a month ago but - as reported by The Gazzettino - echoes of
the story came from Denmark a few days ago.

The story has become a 'case', which were considered informed the
police that the pair of Danish tourists are diplomats to return home
have filed a protest to the Italian Embassy.

According to their story while eating the fry cook would propose they
also enjoy some scampi - a gesture seen as a kindness by tourists -
that would actually become the reason to raise the price of the drinks
to excess. In the end, thus, the cost of the dinner had grown to 600
euro.
