Background music should stay in the background, that's why it's called
"background". Patrons are not there to hear a symphony or a rock
concert. We used to have an Italian restaurant nearby where most of the
waitstaff had lovely voices and sang arias. It was pretty but really
distracting and even intrusive at times.
