I wouldn't call a $30 chicken reasonable, probably a tiny chicken too.
I can buy a 6lb roaster for like 89¢ lb... can roast it whole, cut it
into parts and roast them all, or cut into parts and roast how much
one wants and freeze the rest. I can prepare that meal for about $3.
