"Homeopathic" is stupid. Flat earth stupid. Tooth fairy stupid. Citronella
works somewhat, and eucalyptus a bit better, though perhaps not in areas where
eucalyptus trees are native. Catnip extract is probably the single best, but
that's based on science, not experience. Today, I used eucalyptus lotion,
and it worked.

I was getting bit in the afternoon in the shade. My son and I were constructing an herb garden as a birthday present for mother/wife. It was his idea, and he'd suggested it over a week ago. After the eucalyptus stuff, no more bites. Really, no more bites.

Lemongrass is also somewhat effective, and cedar oil certainly is, but it's more
toxic than DEET. DEET works. It smells bad, and tastes worse. Using it on a camping trip where you want to have great *out in the country* sex is a
non-starter, but for backyard gardening, nothing rivals it. Mosquitoes hate DEET.
