I wouldn't write her off as stupid. This has nothing to do with the
problem at hand but one of my cats seems like she isn't all there, sort
of like she's "stupid" but she just lives in her own world. If she
didn't have it all going on up there she wouldn't have survived as a
feral before I accidentally trapped her. I was really after some stray
stinky males that were peeing all over the place and un-neutered male
pee stinks to high heaven. I wasn't able to keep them but I had the
means to have them neutered, so I was trying to do my part and have them
neutered and then release them. One of them was friendly and was
adopted by a friend. One of them trapped turned out to be a small
female which I thought was a kitten (she was just a runt because she
hasn't grown in size since 2004 except her belly) so I kept her. She is
a true feral. Or was, now even after all of this time she's a
semi-feral and I still can't pick her up unless I trick her, which I
have to do to get her to the vet. If she doesn't have to go to the vet
I don't force her. She's a wild thing.

Anyway, stupid doesn't mean the same with them. They just live in their
own little world sometimes.
