Julie has said on several occasions she doesn't feed birds because of
rats. But yes, raccoons will eat just about anything. I can't keep a
hanging bird feeder because raccoons keep tearing them down. I had a
lovely terra cotta feeder that hung by triple chains. They were joined
at the top on a S- hook. They knocked it down and stole the chains!
Who knows what raccoons would want with chains. But they stole them.
