I watched a show last called 'Infested', or something like that.

It detailed one family and the house they rented. It was infested with
Raccoons in the ceiling, it was incredible what damage they caused,
including sending the mother to hospital with a lung infection
normally only found in cavers. There was 'sludge' running down the
walls... which turned out to be liquid racoon feces. I had no idea how
bad raccoons could be... they make our possums here look like little
angels.

Amazed also at the complete lack of help they received from *anyone*
at all, other than a health inspector - but even that only happened
after repeated requests. He fell though the ceiling because it was all
rotten.

Even though they were paying rent, they got no help from the landlord
whatsoever and apparently legally were not entitled to any help. They
had to abandon the place and lose their deposit (or whatever its
called there).
