Not only everything you had to do... on top of that, I also had the
experience of needing to keep a stray cat for 30 days just so I could
claim I owned it - so a no kill shelter would take it. I suppose I
could have lied, but I didn't know that rule when I took it there the
first time and I didn't know how good their record keeping was. It
was a nice enough cat, but we didn't want another one (on a permanent
basis).
