Not the same thing. IMO, the sloppy joe mix is predominantly meat --
the sauce is there as a bit of a binder. I think of spaghetti sauce and
mostly liquid -- with some meat bits here and there. If, however, I
had, say, a cup of spaghetti sauce leftover, I might (but not likely --
my seasonings are different for the two dishes) brown up a pound or two
or ground beef and stir the sauce into it; then I think the consistency
would be about right for sloppy joes.
