I came thisclose to buying one of those egg sheller things at a mall
kiosk. But they wanted over $10 for it. No thanks! I don't even
know if it would really work.

I am a gadget person, but the size of my kitchen reins me in :>

However, recently my sister spent a week cleaning and organizing my
garage and basement. She made a lovely pantry/work area in my
basement. It was like having "Mission:Organization" come to my house!
