Main advantage to a rice cooker is after the rice is cooked. When the
grandkids lived here for a couple of years, it was used frequently.
The kids had some Asian influence and at a lot of rice, even as a
snack. They had different schedules some days and thus, did not sit
at the family meal.

Our rice cooker will hold the rice in good edible condition for a very
long time. Days, not just hours. You can start it when convenient
and have good rice at dinner time no matter what time that is. Better
than reheating.

If it was just me, I'd probably make rice no more than twice a month
and it would be a pilaf style so the appliance would never get used.
