My mother taught me to cook rice at an early age. We used to have a
family rice pot. It was a cast aluminum pot of very unusual design, with
an extended rim to prevent boil over. These purpose made pots don't seem
to be made anymore - the automatic rice cooker has wiped out the market
for them, I guess. I don't like making rice "manually." It's kind of a
drag. We're just a bunch of lazy Asians. :-)
