Years ago I suspect that my wallet was stolen. I know it had disappeared.
This was before I had any credit cards so all I had to replace was my
driver's license but... I had the rent check from my roommate in it and
what was to me a large amount of cash.

I had gone out to dinner so know that I had it then. And it didn't turn up
in my friend's car or the restaurant. My mistake was in leaving it in the
living room.

My roommate's friend was not getting along with his wife so my roommate had
allowed him to move in with us for a few days. We had a huge walk in closet
upstairs between the two bedrooms. It was my sewing room but it was large
enough for a person to sleep on the floor. I suspect that this guy took it
because he sort of disappeared right after that and my roommate never heard
from him again.

Had another roommate who would steal money from my purse when I was in the
bathroom to pay her portion of the utilities. She even tried to pay me with
rolls of coins that I had just rolled and put address labels on to take to
the bank. I was like... Really?

The last straw came with her when she tried to prove to the landlord that
she had sent in a check for her portion of the rent. She stole one of my
canceled checks, took a photo copy of the back of it and then the front of
one of her own checks. Landlord and I sued her for that but... She kept
quitting jobs and moving around so the best we could do was get $80 from
her. It was costing me too much time and money to keep trying to track her
down.
