Many newer cars will not allows you to hit the lock and close the door
if the key is in the ignition. Locks will just open when you close the
door. Nice feature.

I rarely turn the engine off when getting gas. I want the hat or hte AC
to remain on. It is no more dangerous that I can figure. Avoid static
electricity though.
