My husband wasn't convinced that GPS could be useful, because he'd
read a map and then write the directions on a piece of paper that he
would pull out of his pocket to consult.
I hate driving around cities I've never been in looking for a store.
It's too distracting to be looking for the turn, reading your set of
directions blah, blah, blah... you know how it goes. I was on the
verge of buying a portable GPS for myself that I could throw in the
glove compartment to pull out whenever I needed it when we bought a
new car. Partly due to my incessant harping (and the fact that it was
a killer deal), he had the package with GPS, satellite radio and a
fancy CD player (which was the one item he wanted, but couldn't get
without the other two) installed.
Well, I LOVE my GPS and satellite radio and since our tour of the USA,
he does too. We'd just program the GPS for our destination and got
there without needing to pull over to consult a map. We could also
drive all day long without needing to search for yet another local
channel (that we could agree on) with better reception. Life is good!
