Why does that not surprise me? <g>

But talking about fries - I'm fairly sure (our local) McDonald's potato
fries must be preserved/processed with formaldehyde - or something really
close...

I came to this conclusion because my son sometimes goes to one of the McDs
outlets here and buys a burger and fries for lunch... And one time - when
he was doing his weekly cleaning out of his car - he found a half a packet
of fries he didn't finish under his seat (guess it slipped down there
somehow and must have been there for at least three or four days...)

Anyway, he came to show these fries to me (shaking his head in amazement)
because there was no mold and/or other 'furry' stuff growing on them; in
fact they didn't look (or smell) any different from when one buys them
'fresh'. I guess I'm a sucker for punishment, because I still buy and eat
them sometimes myself. ;-)
