Default I'm Cooking! Update

We are managing pretty well in the kitchen. I found that I can cut up
veggies while sitting at the table and get some stuff out of the fridge
by wheeling the chair near it and standing on one leg. Figuring out how
to move stuff around as well. DH is helpful in following directions.

Tonight we are having roast beef as I got an eye round at Sam's the
other day. He also likes it cold for sandwiches. Last night we had
Michael Angelo's frozen chicken piccata which is not too salty and very
tasty for a frozen product. It has capers and artichokes. We made a
steamer bag of frozen broccoli as a side dish.

Ortho doc said I don't need surgery but I've got about 5 weeks or so
left with the immobility brace and not standing on my right leg. Then
I'll need more therapy.

Hoping to make chicken soup and matzoh balls for Passover. We will be at
a friend's home so that's all I'm doing, but I'm thinking that with some
help I should be okay.

I've had three therapy sessions and am getting really secure with the
walker, but it's tiring and hurts my hands and left hip which is taking
the brunt of my weight so I use the wheel chair in the house. Need the
walker for the potty, however.

Yesterday we tried the RV and I'm proud to say that I can get in by
sitting on the step. Out with the walker and a little help from DH.
It's a very small unit so I can hold on to lots of stuff to get around.

Cooking in the RV will be mostly microwave and eating out. If the
weather is good DH will send up some burnt offerings to the great god
barbeque and I'll make a salad and nuke some veggies for any nights we
are not at ball games. We have a couple of free days between the
ballgames and the RV club rally (where meals are provided) and one of
them will be spent dining with George and Becca (hooray!) at a local
restaurant.

We still haven't figured out the RV shower, but we will. I can do
"sponge" baths to stay clean but I need to wash my hair. I think the
shower head will reach from the shower to the sink. Being an RV shower
there is an on/off switch on the head. DH is going to measure the shower
to see if the shower chair will fit.

DH is thrilled that we are going to the Yankee games in Houston. He
promised me that before the first game we can go to Kenny and Ziggies to
eat. It's a New York style deli that is better than any I've had
outside the NY Metro area with the exception of a really good place near
San Diego many years ago. I think the other two baseball nights will be
stadium food as well. I could eat hot dogs every night :-) but a check
of the Minute Maid Park web site shows that there is lots to choose
from. I'm not all that familiar with the area around the ball park for
restaurants.

I'm still feeling sorry for myself every once in a while, but I'll tough
it out as best I can.

Thanks again for all your helpful hints and I'm sorry if I sounded kvetchy.
