When my mom was bedridden this is the sort of thing she used. Her hair
was longer than I'd ever seen it (shoulder length). You put the cap on,
massage well, then towel dry. No rinsing. Those caps did a remarkable job.
Also, Suave (brand) makes a Dry Shampoo spray. I use it myself from
time to time. It beats the heck out of using cornstarch or baby powder.
Much improved over the old Psssst!(tm) spray shampoo from the 1960's.
