I am self taught too. I was really frustrated with Win8 because it
defaulted to a bunch of programs that I was not used to and seemed not
to have the functions I had come to know and love. I liked the desk top
on the older versions and was not ready for a company to tell me what I
am going to like better. Companies are supposed to cater to their
customers, not the other way around. At any rate, once I got my old
programs installed and got a desktop icon so that I could easily switch
to the old way of doing things it was much easier.
