True; but these days when people marry later, IME most couples either
already live together OR are merging two separate abodes into one, so
usually one or both of them already have a domestic gadget or tool for
everything. The last thing they want is for their friends and relatives
to waste money on six more toasters.

Guest are more likely to know what the pair like to to do, eat or
drink. How about a gift token for match/theatre/cinema tickets or
dinner/lunch, or a bottle/case of their favourite drink.
