The vocals were poor enough quality that the band's co-leader insisted
on equalizing out all the overtones, hence the old fashioned phone
sound, but there was no British affectation.
> That you're proud of this in 2014 makes me all kinds of sads.
Don't agree with the sentiment? No one else was calling out the
religious zealot anti-choicers. No one. The song is unique, and it's
supposed to be ugly.
> Now I understand why you "broke up".
I have openly admitted that the dominant reason for the breakup was the
other leader's dislike of my singing. You confirmed that. If you wish
to characterize the influence of Johnny Rotten as faux Brit, that's just
bullshit. That type of vocalization brings along little accent; a Brit,
a Yank, a Canuck and and Aussie are barely identifiable. Ian Dury was a
notable exception.
> Everybody else was ashamed to be associated with you.
No, they are still associated with me. Everyone but the violist, who
was only an adjunct member, is a relative. They all attended a party at
my house a few months ago to celebrate the 100,000 word count of the
book. It was a very nice party.
> And your name is Brian, ****wit.
My name is Bryan, spelled with a "y." It's on my birth certificate.

What the **** do you know about punk anyway? I've self identified as a
punk rocker since the summer of 1977, and for a few years previous, I'd
self ID'd as "Rock'n Roller." There were no affectaions. The anger was
real. I gave up playing for 15 years, but I realized that there were
things that were not being said that I thought needed to be said.
However detestable one might find it, it was sincere.
Anyone who accuses me of being disingenous is being silly. I stand
behind every lyric.
Your post was timely, as I in between the above paragraph, and this one,
I gave copies of School of the Americas to my next door neighbor and his
sister. M NDN is an African-American, probably in his late seventies,
and his sister seems maybe early seventies. They get the ideology.
Will they enjoy the music? Probably not. Here are the lyrics.

My life is pretty open book. I'm not going to let Jill's branding me as
a pervert because I am hyper-sexual/hyper-romantic stand unchallenged,
nor will I let you call me inauthentic as an artist without a response.
Here's Eric Clapton sounding quite Midwest Yank.
