I have no idea what a cock sparrer is but I like how you Brits have idioms that reak of Old Britannia and the days when Britian ruled the waves and Dicken's England. Our slang mostly goes about as far back as the beginning of the space and internet age.

I suspect that the security lady at the Manchester Airport might want to be one of us. I am of the belief that she kept my Hawaii driver's license. I saw her at the gate later on, accompanied by 2 officers wearing bullet-proof vests and carrying what looked to be AR-15s. So much for the notions that cops in the UK do not carry arms. It looked like something big was going down and that perhaps it was a bad time to bring up the matter of my drivers license. Well I sure hope she enjoys it.
