That is normal at airports and they would have been MP3s not AR-15s Not
especially for you, or anything 'going down' )

All constabularies in the UK have armed support groups available and in some
cities they are permanently deployed on patrol. And then of course the
diplomatic protection group, which is a part of the metropolitan police in
London are always armed.
