I don't quite get that either. In my case, I think the drop in self esteem
was very brief. And a lot of it stemmed from my parents and other adults.
They made a big deal about going into Jr. High and an even bigger one about
going into High School. They said all sorts of things to me that made me
fearful of going to school. Told me stuff about how the older kids would be
very mean to me and stuff like that. Thankfully that didn't happen and in
fact many of my friends were the older kids. Yes, sometimes older kids did
mean and silly things but usually only to younger siblings or their friends.
