That *is* what grated means. Perhaps you wanted shredded? And if it's
really good Parmesiano Reggiano, I think it is best to grate or shred as
needed.

I have never tried that type of cheese in a FP. I have done cheddar. For
that I just use a Microplane. Or if I want big pieces, a peeler.
