Sounds like my middle brother before we rented a house together for a
while. He could grill steak and make baked potatoes. That's about it.

I watched cooking shows on PBS on Saturday mornings. He started
watching, too. Next thing I knew he was looking over my shoulder when I
was cooking, asking all sorts of questions. (It got a little annoying
at times; the galley style kitchen wasn't designed for two people.) He
turned into a foodie.
