I think I had been stuck in a food rut. Until I found this stuff!
Thanks
again sf!
You're welcome. It was a happy coincidence that I tasted it and
decided to buy it because I happened to need mayo at that point.
I don't normally even care for sandwiches but now I keep eating them with
the mayo.
I was so surprised how a mayo that wasn't really mayo could taste so
good. I thought it was tastier than regular mayo, which is something
I'd never guess just by reading the ingredient list. Sampling does
sell products... not to me very often, but it worked in that
particular case.
I was able to make coleslaw with a mayo dressing again! I couldn't
follow
the recipe exactly as I had no celery seed. Forgot that I gave mine away
when they were unable to get my dad to eat his mac and cheese. He only
liked mac and cheese with celery seed. Odd but... Anyway... I had
celery
salt so I subbed that and omitted the regular salt and it was sooo very
good! We all loved it.
If you haven't tried this stuff yet, I think you need to. If you can get
it! I hope you can get it!
Your Safeway still carries it? Great! Mine had it for about a minute
and a half. The product is more expensive than most, so of course
that's a deterrent for those who have never tried it and they only had
it in one size, which was larger size than the one I bought - so it
cost even more than what I paid (which was around $5). Unless there's
a real reason to buy it, like being vegan or allergic to eggs - no one
in their right mind would have tried it. So, it was one of those
products they took off the shelf because "no one was buying it". Too
bad. I rarely go to WF, so I don't know if they still carry it or
not. I have two jars of regular mayo now, so I won't be checking any
time in the near future.
In the mean time, I have noticed the one you don't like ("Vegenaise")
is in the salad part of the refrigerated section on the vegetable
side.
I am going to Whole Foods today and will see what they have. Central Market
has it but only the kind with no preservatives. Safeway still has it but
they can't keep it in stock. I should have bought more. I bought several
squeeze bottles because they take up less room in the fridge. And the big
jar for the coleslaw. Alas, I spaced out and left the jar sitting out last
night. Found it just now, all warm.
There wasn't much left in it.
Perhaps enough for two sandwiches.
I do want to make more slaw. That's good eats in hot weather and we all
love it!
I live in the upper Midwest and, like most places, good barbecue requires beans, slaw, fruit salad, etc. My pal from Napoli, Italy, just hates it when he sees us with the undivided plate where slaw and beans meet. Got him the slotted plate. The slawbeans are heaven to me. Not completely mixed, but a little bit o' marriage.
