I know that hurts, Jean. I'm very sorry for your loss. It's a nice
memory, though, even though it's difficult.
I had a Drinkwell fountain. But it was such a PITA to clean. Even
using the top rack of the dishwasher for the big parts didn't really
help. Those nooks and crannies needed to be scrubbed with a skinny
brush. The difficult part was removing the electrical connection
(adapter?). You had to do that to remove the flow control valve and
impeller in order to clean them. That was a major PITA. The filters
weren't cheap, either. After about 12 years I finally I said that's it,
I'm done. Persia really didn't mind when I decided to swap it for a
deep ceramic bowl.

She does like really cold water, though. I
occasionally drop an ice-cube in her water dish.
Maybe the fountains are easier these days. I still won't be buying
another one.
