Maybe you should learn to select nice ripe pineapples. Grab one of the
center leaf things sticking out the top. It should pull out easily.
Most of the grocery stores around here offer peeled and cored pineapple
in a plastic tub for about the same price. They are usually nicely
ripened, but it helps to look for those with the deeper colour.
