Sometimes saying it *can* be callous. When my little dog Sampson died I
called the on-site apartment manager to ask her to remove the extra $20
month pet rent I'd been paying. She said (rather flippantly), "Just get
another dog." That was very insensitive. No, how about you just update
your computer. I'm not getting another dog so you can collect more in
rent. Sheesh, you'd think she worked on commission or something.
