Not necessarily. I can think of two cases where the mods took things into
their own hands. In one case, it was on Hallloween and I had made a post
about getting all of these foreign Trick or Treaters who were being driven
to my house. I couldn't understand it becauser they came only here and to
no other houses. Granted, I used to go all out with the decorations and I
used to give out either toys or full sized candy bars. I did see some
people using their cell phones to call other people and give them my
address.

After I made that post, I didn't return to the computer for a couple of
hours because so many kids were coming to the door. I was here alone
because Angela was out with friends.

And while I was gone, some people started talking about me behind my back.
They accused me of saying things that I didn't say which was ridiculous
because I had made only the one post and it was clear what I had said.
Somehow they twisted it into some sort of thing about how I don't like
Mexicans. Which is beyond ridiculous. Mexican food is my favorite food!
And the people who came to my door were not Mexicans. I don't know where
they came from. Only that that they didn't speak English.

I won't even bother to go into what all took place but people were saying
things about me that they shouldn't have. But the mods were their friends
so they joined in the attack and were even pushing to ban me. This went on
throughout the night and there was nothing I could say or do to stop it.
Finally, one mod who seemed reasonable stepped in and said something like,
"Well, that didn't go well and you did it again, didn't you?" So clearly
this wasn't that first time it had happened. These same bad mods were
constantly accusing me of being "You know who from you know where..." And I
had no idea what they were talking about. Again, the one reasonable mod
kept saying, "Guy! I don't think it is her!"

This was a food forum. I left it. Occasionally I will look in on it but
they have very effectively chases all newcomers off with their insults.
Apparently they moved from one place to another for reasons that escape me.

There is another food forum that I left. I had been posting there for years
with no problems until the owner appointed some new mods recently. They
have gone rogue and are not abiding by the rules. The owner got married
recently and probably isn't around to see this. This is a medical/food
forum and these mods keep attacking people, telling them that their Drs. are
wrong or they were given the wrong test or not to believe this or that. And
they attack in droves. I do have a few people who PM me there and vice
versa but I will no longer post there.

I have been a mod in the past. I was very careful as to what I deleted and
over the course of several years, I probably only deleted maybe three posts
that were not Spam. All were likely made by the same person who was
claiming to be some famous person who was asking for help. Each time they
picked a different celebrity and surmised a cockamamie story. Had they just
posted the story I would have left it. But it was wrong to claim to be
someone else.

Yeah.
